A Safe & Fun Spring Break

It’s been almost two months of school. Your midterms are coming up and everyone has been studying. There’s been late night note-card making, coffee runs, and last-minute cramming. But the one thing that everyone is really thinking about is just around the corner- spring break. Finally, a time to escape classes and instead go on a much-needed vacation. There are so many options- some people are going on a coastal roadtrip, others are returning home to see their families. Whether your spring break is one full of adventure or one of complete relaxation, the options are endless.

Make it a Vacation

Talk to your trusted friends and plan out a spring-break outing! Start planning in advance so that all of the necessary resources are thought of beforehand.

Here’s some things for you to think about…

Transportation. How are you getting to your destination? Who is coming with you?

Communication. Notify a loved one or family member of your plans. In case of emergency, have their contact information available.

Create an itinerary. How much time do you want to spend on this trip? Look up attractions and events you would like to attend while you are adventuring.

Socialize. Who do you want to join you on this fun adventure? What group activities would be entertaining for everyone?

Make it a Staycation

Sometimes, the best vacation is one spent rediscovering your roots. Take some time for yourself- you’ve earned it! After a long time at school, finding your happy place through self-care and renewal can be a healing process for your physical and mental health.

Take yourself to the spa. Go ahead, get a full body massage to help loosen up tense muscles and ease your mind.

Try learning a new skill. Crocheting and knitting are easy at-home projects that you can do from the comfort of your living room. Put on a feel-good movie and let the hooks and needles do the work!

Find a new hobby. The world is yours to explore! Try anything from painting with a friend to taking dance lessons.

Discover new music. Switch things up from your regular groove and ask your loved ones for recommendations. Maybe you’ll find a new favorite artist you never heard of before.

Socialize with people in your community. Several adult recreation leagues, book clubs and Facebook groups are looking for new members like you.

The most important part about spring break is to enjoy yourself. Use the return of warm weather to do something that makes you happy. From the quiet comfort of your space to the adventures into the unknown, your hiatus from school awaits.
